Two University College members were recognized this week for their outstanding contributions during the annual University Excellence Awards ceremony.
Agustín Llano, senior program manager for the Air Force ROTC program, received the Extra Mile Award, which recognizes staff members who demonstrate creativity, initiative and exceptional service to the university.
Llano is widely regarded as the heartbeat of UT San Antonio's Air Force ROTC program. Known for his dedication to students and passion for service, he plays a vital role in mentoring and supporting cadets as they prepare for leadership in the Air Force and Space Force. His professionalism and commitment have had a lasting impact on the program and the broader university community.
Katheryne Harrell, associate professor of practice in the Academic Introduction & Strategies program, received the Faculty Mentoring Award (fixed-term track category). The award honors faculty members whose mentorship advances the teaching, research and professional development of their colleagues.
Harrell is recognized for her thoughtful and personalized mentoring approach. Using a networking model, she helps faculty build strong professional connections that support both their immediate needs and long-term goals. Her commitment to mentoring excellence has helped colleagues grow and succeed across the university.
University College congratulates Llano and Harrell on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their continued dedication to the university community.
