Bio

Kate Harrell joined University College and AIS in the Fall of 2023. She holds an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Cincinnati and a graduate certificate in Public Health from New Mexico State University. Kate comes to UTSA after several years of teaching upper and lower-division undergraduate courses in Anthropology at the University of the Incarnate Word. Currently she is teaching AIS courses for Honors and in the Exploratory pathway.

In addition to teaching, she has worked with various San Antonio-based health programs including the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, Project WORTH at the City of San Antonio, the San Antonio chapter of Campaign to Improve Birth, the International Cesarean Awareness Network, and The Talk Program (a small non-profit offering comprehensive sex-ed for parents and youth).

In her time away from campus, Kate spends her time parenting two exceptional kids, reading as much as possible, and riding horses.
