Bio

Tucker Johnson is Associate Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships and Professor of Practice for the Hospitality and Events Management track within the Multidisciplinary Studies program.

Prior to joining UT San Antonio in January 2025, he served for a decade on the faculty of internationally recognized Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership at the University of Houston. He has developed and taught more than 15 hospitality-related courses in both online and in-person formats.

Johnson brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the hospitality industry and has extensive experience in direct hotel sales across independent, branded, luxury, extended-stay, conference center and airport properties. He served as corporate director of sales and marketing for a seven-hotel portfolio, where he held full topline responsibility, overseeing marketing plans, comprehensive budgets and overall revenue management strategy. Earlier in his career, he served in a range of positions in hotel sales as well as food and beverage operations and management.

Over his career, Johnson has earned numerous industry certifications, including Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE), Certified Hospitality Sales Professional (CHSP), Certified Hospitality Revenue Manager (CHRM), Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE), Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA), and Certified Dining Room Attendant (DRA).
