Assistant Professor of Practice, Multidisciplinary Studies
Jonathan Gutierrez joined University College in 2023 after serving UT San Antonio’s Academic Innovation division since 2017. During that time, he led the university’s transition from Blackboard to the Canvas learning management system, collaborated with faculty on more than 20 undergraduate courses, and presented at national conferences on educational technology and teaching in higher education.
Within the Multidisciplinary Studies program, Jonathan teaches courses ranging from digital media content creation to event management. He especially enjoys classes that help students define and pursue personal and professional goals, such as Senior Seminar and Introduction to Multidisciplinary Studies. He also partners with organizations to connect students with experiential learning opportunities, including the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2023, an experience that contributed to receiving a University College teaching award.
Outside the classroom, Jonathan stays active in San Antonio by planning community events and performing as a drummer in several bands. You might catch him at a live music venue, local festival, or vendor market in the Southtown area.
