Bio

I joined the AIS program at UTSA in Fall 2019 after completing my Ph.D. in Political Science at Syracuse University. Prior to coming to UTSA, I mostly taught courses in the area of international security and security politics. Here at UTSA, I teach social sciences and exploratory courses for AIS, and occasionally also teach an Honors version of AIS focused on globalization and the global community.

In addition to teaching classes for AIS, I am also the Social Science Pathway Coordinator, and a Graduate Advisor of Record for University College. I have also published articles in international relations, including in Security Dialogue, the European Journal of International Relations, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, Global Constitutionalism, and Millennium – Journal of International Studies.

I have found UTSA to be a welcoming place, with great students and colleagues. This has made it easy to volunteer for additional service opportunities here at UTSA, and my commitment to service earned me the University College Achievement Award for exemplary service and commitment to University College in 2023.

Outside of my work life and academics, I spend time with my family, I’m an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, and I like to play along to music on my electronic drum set.
